Ephemeroid perennial herb onion plant . The bulb is slender, 2.5-4 cm long. Leaf 2, 6-17 cm long, with wavy ends. The leaf blade is lanceolate to almost oval in shape, green, more or less curved around the midrib . The edge of the leaf is solid or oval. The stalk is 6-20 cm long.
Inflorescence on an upright peduncle up to 20 cm tall, contains 1-3 flowers. Perianth is simple. Perianth 20β35 mm long, wide, lanceolate. They are white, 2 or 3 of them have a yellow area near the base. Over time, they become more or less pale pink. The inner leaflets at the base are somewhat ear-shaped. Stamens 8-14 mm long. Filaments are thin and white. Anthers are large, bright yellow. The column is white, from 4 to 9 mm long. The stigma is most often undivided.
The fruit is a box , 2-5 cm long, obovate.
Flowering in late spring and summer from April to June . Chromosome set 2n = 24.
The species was found in California and Oregon , where it grows in the Klamath Mountains (hence the name) and in the very south of the Cascade Mountains . It grows in mountain meadows and clearings of coniferous forests at an altitude of 1200 to 1900 m above sea ββlevel .
