George Karakhanyan (born May 29, 1985 , Moscow ) is an American mixed martial arts fighter (MMA) of Russian origin. Performs in MMA since October 13, 2006. He is the World Series of Fighting featherweight champion. Will hold the first title defense on June 21, 2014 .

Biography
George was born on May 29, 1985 in Moscow, in the family of an Armenian businessman. His father, the owner of a black belt in Karate Do Shotokan, helped him find his hobby in martial arts at the age of 6 years. Already at the age of eight, George participated in his first tournament battle.
Karakhanyan’s dreams have completely changed since the 1994 FIFA World Cup. Inspired by the legends of world football, such as Romario, Roberto Baggio, Gheorghe Hadji, George made a serious decision to become a professional football player. He played in the Moscow clubs “Torpedo” and “Spartak”. After his family moved to Tarragona, Spain, George continued to work with professionals in the club “GYMNASTIC DE TARRAGONA” (FC Barcelona reserve team). George continued to follow his passion for football after his family moved to the United States of America.
Despite a successful football career from an early age, George began to understand that US football is different from European football, which he had been familiar with since childhood. “It was a difficult decision to leave such a great passion, but my life changed globally when football ended in my life. From a dreamer I turned into a realist, ”said Georgy Karakhanyan.
Karakhanyan's debut in MMA (Mixed Martial Arts - Mixed Martial Arts) was the fight on October 13, 2006, after six months of training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Despite the fact that George never dreamed of such fights, in the first sparring he defeated an MMA veteran, which gave him tremendous confidence and confidence that he was on the right track.
