History

The National and University Library of Croatia was founded in 1607 as part of the Jesuit school Neoacademia Zagrabiensis. In 1669, the school was recognized by the Hapsburg king Leopold I [2] . The history of the library is inextricably linked with the history of the University of Zagreb , founded later. In 1776, the library became the Royal Library of the Academy of Sciences (Regia Scientiarum Academia), and in 1874 - the University Library of Zagreb. In 1818, the library became public.
