Deryagin, Gennady Borisovich

In 1981, he graduated from the Medical Faculty of the Arkhangelsk State Medical Institute with a specialization in Dermatovenereology and Forensic Medicine, with the qualification of a doctor and a general practitioner. ^{[1] [2]}

In 1982–1991 , he worked as the head of the Onega district office in the Federal Bureau of Public Health of the Arkhangelsk Region “Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination”, then in 1991–1993 he was the head of the area department of the district offices. ^[one]

Since 1993, he joined the Northern State Medical University as an assistant in the course of forensic medicine. ^{[1] [2]}

In 1999 he defended his thesis "Medical and social aspects of sexual crimes in the European North of Russia." (specialties - 05.26.02 "Security, protection, rescue and life support of the population in emergency situations" and 14.00.24 - "Forensic medicine") ^{[1] [2]}

In 2002, he defended his doctoral thesis “Forensic Aspects of Sexual Violence in the European North of Russia” at the Northern State Medical University (Specialties - 05.26.02 - “Safety in Emergency Situations” and 14.00.24 - “Forensic Medicine”). He founded and developed a new discipline - criminal sexology . He has more than 70 scientific publications, participated in the development of a variety of textbooks and manuals. Member of the Russian Scientific Sexological Society, expert of the National Institute of Sexology (Moscow). ^[3]

In 2011, Deryagin was accused by a number of public figures of the apology of pedophilia in his textbook “Criminal Sexology” and “Sexual Offenses: Investigation and Forensic Medical Examination”. The head of the Synodal Department for Church and Society Relations, Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, expressed the opinion that the textbook justifies pedophilia and shows it as progressive and normal, that it calls for the decriminalization of pedophilia ^[4] and that it is part of the “propaganda of pedophilia” campaign as well like Nabokov ’s novel “ Lolita ”, because, according to Chaplin, “Nabokov was promoted as the author of this novel” and “was politically advantageous to someone”, and concludes that “often works of art are written under the political order, or become in demand during some event " ^[5] . Vsevolod Chaplin also accused Deryagin of being in favor of adopting a law on the protection of homosexuals from homophobia ^[6] . Bloggers on the Internet also accused a scientist of “ promoting homosexuality ” and euthanasia , sex education in schools, etc. ^{[7] [8]} “The huntress for pedophiles”, Assistant Commissioner under the President of the Russian Federation on the rights of the child lawyer Anna Levchenko argues that Deryagin himself is a pedophile ^[9] , because, in her opinion, he “does not hide, he calls himself a“ boylover, ”he has a pedophile video on his internet page ^[10] .

In his book “Criminal Sexology,” Deryagin provided information about pedophilia, based on his article “Pedophilia,” published in 2006 in the peer-reviewed scientific journal Sexology and Sexopathology. This included the view that pedophilia is a biologically constructive phenomenon, and also that its modern conceptualization as a mental pathology is culturally and politically determined: ^{[7] [8] [10] [11] [12] [13]}

Pedophilia is an eternal phenomenon, in a biological sense - initially constructive, since love for children, with or without explicit sexual coloring, ensures the survival of the species, the socialization of the ward. The modern concept of pedophilia as a socially dangerous sexual perversion and medical pathology is quite young. It is the offspring of militant Puritanism and feminism in the cultures of Western countries in the last quarter of the 20th century, more connected with politics, since people's sexuality, the struggle “for endless moral purity” has always been a trump card in political games. ^[14]

In an interview with the newspaper Vecherny Severodvinsk , Deryagin stated that the textbook quotations published in the media were taken out of context, since it was only “ about the constructiveness of adult-child sexual relations in biological terms, in a biological aspect ” and “ about animals, not about humans society . " He called the charges “nonsense” and “hysteria”, but under pressure he was forced to leave the Moscow University of the Interior Ministry, although he remained to teach at the NSMU ^{[15] [16]} . In his interview to the question about his statement “Pedophilia is an eternal phenomenon, in the biological sense initially constructive” Deryagin argued that this quotation was taken out of context and may simply be incomprehensible to a non-specialist and constructive in biological understanding does not in any way mean the same in social understanding, and also, that the concept of “pedophilia” has five meanings ^{[6] [7]} . He also noted that some small part of experts believe that ICD-10 implies that pedophilia may be a variant of normal sexual orientation, and the discussion in the scientific community is not over ^[6] .

In addition, Deryagin was presented in his article “Pedophilia” and the relevant part of “Criminal Sexology” on the basis of the 1999 article “The pattern of sexual politics: feminism, homosexuality and pedophilia”; the prospects of a political struggle for their rights of so-called pedophiles) ^[17] . This article addressed the issues of social constructivism in the field of human sexuality, the impact on social constructions related to sexuality, feminist and LGBT movements. Also, the article noted that, despite the spread of understanding of adult human sexuality through the prism of social constructivism (that is, it is believed that ideas about the adult sexual norm are relative, depend on sociocultural conditions and change, are “constructed” by society), childish sexuality dominates a look through the prism of essentialism, that is, it is believed that the current standards regarding child sexuality, on which children under no circumstances can agree to participate in the transg Generative sexual activity, unshakable and invariant with respect to sociocultural conditions, reflect a constant essence. The article also states that the essentialist view of adult sexuality, homosexuals, women, manifested through the moral principles prevailing in society, dominated the activity of the feminist and LGBT movements, and also notes that the transformation of the prevailing social views regarding sexuality consists of two phases: the first phase, during the debates surrounding this transformation, uses psychological and moral categories; in the second phase, political ones. The author of the article believes that the process of transformation of the dominant social views regarding adult sexuality, homosexuals, women, initiated by feminist and LGBT movements, is in the second phase (the current debate on these issues is based on political categories), while the process in which organizations are interested pedophiles, on the first, that is, they are, as it were, at the beginning of the process of struggle aimed at changing social attitudes related to transgeneration relations, which Der noted Yagin in his article:

It is difficult to talk about predictions about the social endorsement of adult sexual relations with children. But the modern attitude of Western society to the sexuality of children, their sexual rights and the rights of adults to engage in voluntary sex with children is similar to the historical attitude of society towards women and homosexuals . They, as is known, relatively recently and not everywhere have achieved a social revision of the traditional moral attitudes towards them; received legislative guarantees of their rights, work to expand these rights. It seems that pedophiles are at the beginning of a similar path. The initial stretch of this path is objectively marked by the consolidation of the boys, the creation of their legal organizations, the attempts of the political struggle to recognize the admissibility of child sex and the sexual relations of children with adults, explaining their positions to society, which the Internet contributes to a large extent. ^[18]
