Career
Early career
Ambrose began his professional career at Kaduna United in 2006, and two years later, in the 2008/2009 season, he was rented by Bayelsa United , but remained at Kaduna United after helping them move to the top division [2] .
Ashdod
Ambrose joined the Israeli Premier League club Ashdod in June 2010 [3] . He made his club debut in a match against Netanya's Maccabi , which ended in a 0-2 defeat. Later, in a match against Maccabi Tel Aviv , also lost 1: 4, he scored his first goal for the club.
Celtic
In 2012, on the last day of the summer transfer window , Ambrose signed a three-year contract with the Scottish club Celtic [4] . After his transition, he thanked his new teammates for helping him quickly adapt to Glasgow [5] . Ambrose also said that he studied British football before moving to Celtic, watching the games of the Scottish and English Premier League on television, after he heard about the interest from the Scottish team [6] .
Ambrose made his club debut, replacing Celtic captain Scott Brown in the Scottish Premier League match against Dundee , ending 2-0. He played his first full match against the Wright Rovers in the Scottish Cup , won 4-1. He scored his first goal in a winning match (5: 0) against St. Mirren on October 20, 2012 [7] . Ambrose also made his debut in the Champions League , where he played 90 minutes in a match that ended in a 3-2 victory over Spartak Moscow [8] . On November 4, in a match against Dundee United , Amrose made a mistake by cutting the ball into his own net, and the meeting itself ended in a draw 2: 2. After the match, he said that he was very depressed and felt that he could leave a clean ball [9] . Ambrose twice appeared in the starting lineup in the Champions League matches against Barcelona , in which his team won at home but lost in Spain. Before the match against the Catalans, Ambrose promised that he would play his best game in the club [10] . After the match, which ended with a 2-1 victory for Celtic, Ambrose said that he considered the victory against Barcelona the best gift for the club’s 125th anniversary and paid tribute to God for the final expense [11] .
International Career
Ambrose was a member of the Nigeria national team at the 2007 World Youth Championships , held in Canada [12] . Later, as part of the Olympic team, he participated in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing [13] .
As part of the Nigeria national team, Ambrose won the 2013 African Cup of Nations [14] .
