Spencer's monitor lizard [1] ( lat. Varanus spenceri ) is a species of lizards from the monitor family . Named in honor of the Anglo-Australian zoologist Walter Baldwin Spencer (1860-1929).

DescriptionBody length up to 1.2 m. The upper part of the body is most often light gray-brown with dark brown and cream spots. The underside of the body is creamy with brown or gray spots. The tail is rather round in cross section at the base, and in the rear part it is laterally compressed and has a medial crest.
DistributionInhabits northwest Queensland in Australia .
