Professional career
Silas was selected in the 1972 NBA Draft in the fifth round under a total number 70 by the Houston Rockets Club. However, before the start of the 1972/73 season, the club refused him and the Cheperrels coach Babe McCarthy invited him to his club and in November 1972 Silas signed a contract with the ABA club. Already in the first season, he lived up to expectations and, according to the results of the season, he was included in the first ABA rookie team.
After the 1972/73 season, the Chapparels were sold and the team moved to San Antonio and began performing under the name San Antonio Spurs. In 1975 and 1976, he was selected to participate in matches of all ABA stars, and also twice included in the teams of all stars. The most successful season for him was 1976, when he averaged 23.8 points per game and made 5.4 assists and 4 rebounds.
Silas played 8 seasons for Spurs, of which 5 in the NBA. In 1981, he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers , where he stayed for one year and then announced the end of his career.
February 28, 1984 "San Antonio Spurs" assigned him number 13 [1] .
