Biography
Thomas Gordon Hartley was born in the city of Beaumont [1] in 1931 [1] .
Hartley was educated in the field of botany [1] . In 1955, he received a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin; in 1957, Hartley received a master's degree, and in 1962 - a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa [1] . In 1961 - 1965 , Thomas Gordon was the leader of the expeditions of the State Association of Scientific and Applied Research in New Guinea for phytochemical studies [1] . From 1965 to 1971, he was curator of Arnold Arboretum at Harvard University [1] . From 1971 he worked as a senior research associate at the State Association for Scientific and Applied Research in Herbarium Australiense , Canberra , Australia [1] . Hartley described more than 400 plant species [2] .
