Balbi ( born Mount Balbi ) is a stratovolcano on the island of Bougainville of the province of the same name in Papua New Guinea .

The highest volcano on the island (2715 meters). Consists of connected domes . There are several side cones, craters , consisting of andesitic rocks. The slopes of the volcano are wooded, covered with bamboo and other trees.
Local Aborigines reported an eruption in the 19th century, but these data were not confirmed. The volcanic observatory in Rabaul also erroneously reported a volcanic eruption in 2008, but satellite devices did not record this data.
