Biography
Born on June 1, 1928 in the village of Mugut, Znauri district, South Ossetia, USSR. From his youth, he ran, raised various heavy metal objects. In 1950, he won the weightlifting championship of Georgia. After he was enrolled in the Georgian freestyle wrestling team, he abandoned weightlifting . Wrestling was trained under the leadership of Vakhtang Kukhianidze . In 1952 he became the second in the Georgian freestyle wrestling championship. In 1953 he became a silver medalist at the USSR Championship in Tbilisi . Since 1954, part of the USSR national team in freestyle wrestling. In the same year, in the match meeting of the national team of Sweden and the USSR in freestyle wrestling, he became the first, having won the multiple world champion and Olympic champion Olle Underberg , also won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Tokyo and the USSR champion in freestyle wrestling in Leningrad . In 1955, he became the third in the USSR freestyle wrestling championship in Minsk . In 1956, he became the USSR champion in Sambo in Leningrad and the third in free-style wrestling at the Summer Games of the Peoples of the USSR in Moscow . In 1958, due to a hand injury , Sergey completes his sports career. After that, engaged in coaching in Tbilisi.
He lived with his family in the city of Tskhinval , where he died in May 2014.
