Doctoral dissertation T.Yu. Sidorina is devoted to the philosophical and humanitarian problems of the Club of Rome in the context of the evolution of crisis consciousness.
Philosophy of Culture
In the works of 1999-2003. T.Yu. Sidorina continues to study the phenomenon of the crisis of Western European culture in the context of the philosophy of the crisis as one of the significant directions of philosophy of the twentieth century. Monographs (“Crisis of the 20th Century: Forecasts of Russian Thinkers”, “Paradoxes of Crisis Consciousness”) and the textbook “Crisis Philosophy”, published in 2003 by Flinta Nauka, are devoted to this subject. This work has gained recognition among experts and a wide readership. The book discusses the origins and characteristics of the sociocultural crisis at the turn of the 19th – 20th centuries, approaches to assessing the causes and nature of this significant sociocultural phenomenon by Western and domestic thinkers. The author made an attempt to present the crisis of culture in all aspects of its manifestation, the fullness of its sociocultural significance. Review A.V. Mikhailovsky for this work was published in the journal Questions of Philosophy .
In 2018, the monograph “Cultural Transformations of the XX Century: a Crisis of Culture in the Assessment of Western European and Domestic Thinkers” was published, representing the second edition of the Philosophy of the Crisis, in which the author focuses on the topic of cultural transformations, extending the analysis to the philosophical and sociological concepts of the turn of XX-XXI centuries
Social Policy
In the 2000s, T.Yu. Sidorina turns to the study of the history and theory of social policy. In 2004, in collaboration with S.N. Smirnov published the textbook “Social Policy” (awarded the certificate of the NKSUM), in 2005 the monograph “Two Centuries of Social Policy” was published, in 2008 the monograph “The Phenomenon of Freedom in the Context of Globalization” (co-authored with T. L. Polyannikov and V. .P. Filatov), in which significant sections are devoted to social policy. In 2013, the monograph “The Welfare State: From Utopia to the Crisis” was published. These works can rightfully be considered pioneering, which is confirmed by numerous reviews, including the review of the head of the Independent Institute of Social Policy - L.N. Ovcharova. T.Yu. Sidorina presented a detailed retrospective and analysis of the formation of social policy as one of the most important directions of the state’s internal policy, as the development and implementation of the ideas of thinkers, authors of utopian social projects.
In 2018, the popular science publication The Welfare State was published.
The book presents in a popular form the history and theoretical origins of the emergence and development of one of the most important social phenomena of the twentieth century - the welfare state. The author refers to the evolution of the theory of the welfare state, approaches to typology, assessment of social policy in the framework of the theory of the welfare state of different countries of the world. The previous concepts are considered: the ideal state, social ideal, social utopias, offering models of the optimal organization of society; as well as the question of the limitations of the welfare state model, its crisis and possible prospects.
Philosophy of Labor
Currently T.Yu. Sidorina is working on the problems of labor philosophy, which in many ways combines the socio-philosophical, socio-theoretical and cultural-philosophical interests of the researcher. While working at the Higher School of Economics, T.Yu. Sidorina addressed various aspects of the study of the “labor” phenomenon, including the course “Sociology of Labor and Employment” was developed and taught, articles were published in leading Russian journals (Social Sciences and the Present, Philosophy Issues , Domestic Notes, Terraeconomicus, Free Thought, etc. .), studies were conducted as part of projects supported by the Russian Humanitarian Science Foundation. The research results are presented at international scientific forums, in particular at the 3rd Forum of the International Sociological Association in Vienna (Austria) in July 2016.
In 2014, the monograph “Civilization of Labor” was published — an innovative work in the field of the philosophy of labor, which has practically not developed in Russia since the time of social transformations. This is a fundamental study of the evolution of the perception of labor in history. The book is permeated with the inevitable ambivalence in the assessment of labor activity. The author considers the evolution of the concept of “labor” throughout the history of mankind, during which the attitude to work changed from rejection, contempt, reverence and admiration, and, finally, at the end of the 20th century. researchers begin to talk about the "end of labor in its classical sense."
In the era of industrial production, labor determined the lifestyle of a person. In his works, T.Yu. Sidorina asks questions: Does the work retain its former significance? Does the life of a modern person remain labor-centric? What in modern conditions determines the prospects of labor participation of a person? What can make up for large-scale exemption in the sphere of labor and production?
Book T.Yu. Sidorina is the intellectual result of many years of research on those aspects of labor that together represent his “curse”; without this knowledge, it is difficult to evaluate not only the specifics of labor relations inherent in post-industrial society, but also such relatively new phenomena in this area as, for example, precarization of employment and downshifting. This book is the first compendium of centuries-old philosophical and sociological discussions about the nature of labor born at the turning points of human development. Book T.Yu. Sidorina is interesting as evidence of a living and emphasized personal attitude of the author to the subject of research. The philosophical dominant of the book is its final chapter and the author’s approach to the issue of labor in the context of the meaning of life.
Review V.N. Leksina on the monograph "Civilization of Labor" was published in No. 1 of the journal " Questions of Philosophy " in 2017.
In 2018, the monograph “Life without work or work for salvation?” (2018), in which T.Yu. Sidorina reflected the changes taking place in the perception of labor in the 2010s.
