Biastes emarginatus (lat.) Is a species of cuckoo bees from the genus Biastes of the Apidae family. Body length about 7-8 mm. The head , chest and abdomen are black, gently punctured, in females the abdomen is brownish-reddish. The body is slightly pubescent. Abdominal tergites have white felt spots. The mandibles are jagged. In males and females, the antennae are 12-segmented. Front wing with 2 radio-medial cells. Kleptoparasites of bees of the genus Rophites ( Rophites algirus and Rophites quinquespinosus ), in whose nests they lay their eggs. Like other cuckoo bees , they do not have devices for pollination and collecting pollen (there are no baskets on legs, modified hairs on the body, etc.) [1] .

The species was first described in 1853 as part of the genus Phileremus by the German entomologist Adolf Schenck . It occurs in central and eastern Europe ( Austria , Hungary , Germany , Spain , Italy , Poland , Russia , Romania , Slovakia , Slovenia , France , Czech Republic , Switzerland ) [2] .
