The 2005 presidential election in Croatia - the next presidential election in Croatia, was held in two rounds on January 2 and January 16, 2005 . The victory was won by the current President of Croatia , who was re-elected for a second presidential term.

13 candidates took part in the elections, but the main candidates were incumbent president Stepan Mesic and former radio journalist, Jadranka Kosor , who served as vice prime minister in a government formed by the Christian Democratic Commonwealth [1] . Both main candidates claimed to support Croatia’s pro-Western course and accession to NATO and the EU [2] . According to opinion polls, Mesic could get about 50% of the vote and become president in the first round. Kador Kador was supported by about 20% of voters.
