Heteropogon (lat.) - a genus of predatory cattle from the subfamily Stenopogoninae (tribe Cyrtopogonini ). More than 50 species [1] . Palearctic , Nearctic , Neotropics [2] . Body length from 7 to 18 mm. Flies with a flat face and a humpbacked view. The height of the head is less than its width. First segments of tarsi longer than others. The shape of the body is diverse. Palps 2-segmented, antennae 3-segmented. Some representatives of the genus Heteropogon are monophages, feed only on ants [1] . The genus was first isolated in 1847 by the German entomologist Friedrich German Leuv [3] .
