He came from a family of a landowner who had the title of an adviser to the court. Born in Goertz , received his law degree from the University of Vienna . He entered the civil service, but already in 1836 he retired. He settled in Baden , in the castle of Weikersdorf belonging to his uncle. He was fond of agronomy .
After the start of the revolution in March 1848, Doblhoff-Deer was elected to the Reichstag , joined the liberals. When the Pillersdorf government was formed in May, he became Minister of Commerce. On July 8, after the cabinet resigned, he temporarily headed the government and at the same time assumed the post of Minister of the Interior. On July 18, Johann von Wessenberg-Ampringen was appointed Minister President. Doblhoff-Dir retained the post of Minister of the Interior and held it until the October uprising in Vienna.
In 1849 - 1858 - Ambassador of Austria to the Netherlands . From 1861 he was a deputy of the Reichsrat , from 1867 - a member of the House of Lords ( Herrenhaus ).
In 1873 , an alley in the First District of Vienna was named after Anton von Doblhoff-Dir, and Doblhoffgasse in the parliament area.
