Basil Gorgis Hannah ( Arabic: باسل كوركيس حنا ; September 6, 1961 , Ankawa ) is an Iraqi footballer of Assyrian descent who played as a midfielder .

As part of the Iraqi national team, he participated in the 1986 World Cup and the 1988 Olympic Games .

Career

Club

He began his career in 1977 at the Al-Saadoun Club. In 1979, he joined the team of the first Iraqi division, Al-Aman . He played the longest for the capital club Al-Shabab , in which he became the finalist of the Iraq Cup in the 1989/90 season ^[1] . He completed his career at Al-Talaba Club in the 1990/91 season.

In the national team

He played for Iraq from 1981 to 1989 . He participated in the 1986 World Cup , held two masts at the tournament ^[2] , and was removed from the field in the game with the Belgian national team ^[3] . At the 1988 Olympics he took part in two matches ^[4] .

With the Iraqi national team, Gorgis won the Gulf Cups in 1984 and 1988 .
