Biography
Omar Sosa from the age of eight studied the game of marimba, then moved to the piano, while studying at the music school of Havana. In 1993 he moved to Quito , Ecuador , then to San Francisco , where he began to take an active part in the development of the local scene of Latin jazz. Achievements
Every year, Omar Sosa gives more than a hundred concerts on all six continents. His music was performed at Carnegie Hall , the Chicago Museum of Modern Art , the Getty Museum [1] .
Twice, Omar Sosa received BBC Radio 3 World Music Awards . The New York Jazz Journalists Association named one of the pianist's albums the best Afro-Caribbean jazz album of 2003.
In January 2011, Omar Sosa won the “Best Jazz Album” nomination at the 10th Independent Music Award ceremony in [1] .
Collaborated with a symphony orchestra. His first work in this direction, “From Our Mother,” a 45-minute piece with elements of jazz, folk music of Venezuela, Cuba and Ecuador, was first performed at the Auckland Theater in [2] .

Omar Sosa often performs in various creative tandems. In 2008, he wrote music for one documentary tape, and in 2010 became the composer of the film “The Last Flamingo Flight” [4] , based on the novel by Mozambique writer Mia Koutu .
