Content
Title
The toponym Ijil is of Kalmyk origin ( Kalm. Iҗl ) and translates the same, similar, used, is also the Kalmyk name of the Volga River [2]
History
The history of the village of Ijil is connected with the history of the economy of the same name - the livestock farm Izhil. Izhil state farm of the Justinsky district of the Kalmyk Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic was formed in the northeastern part of the district in 1976 . Soon, already in the following 1977 , the economy was transferred to the new October district of the republic [3] . In the village were located PMK No. 5, 6, 13, SPMK and ATB-3 [4] . In 1984, the state farm "Dzhangr" was allocated from the farm. The total land area was 38 603 ha.
In 1998, the state farm "Ajil" was reorganized into the eponymous SEC , which in 2004 was liquidated due to bankruptcy [3] .
Physico-geographical characteristics
The village is located within the Sarpinskaya lowland (north-western part of the Caspian lowland ), at an altitude of 3 meters above sea level [5] . The terrain is flat. From all sides the village is surrounded by pasture land . 2.6 km south-east of the village is the main discharge channel KAROS [6] .
By road, the distance to the capital of Kalmykia, the city of Elista is 200 km, to the district center of the village of Bolshoi Tsaryn - 68 km, to the border with the Astrakhan region - 46 km [7] . There is an entrance to the village from the republican highway Ketchenery - Izhil - Salty Zaimishche ( Astrakhan region ).

The climate is temperate sharply continental (according to the Köppen – Bsk classification of climates ), with hot and arid summers and relatively cold and little snowy winters. The average annual air temperature is + 9.2 ° C. The average temperature of the coldest month of January is 6.5 ° C, the hottest month of July + 25.0 ° C. The estimated long-term rainfall is 292 mm. During the year, the amount of precipitation is distributed relatively evenly: the least amount of precipitation falls from February to April (18 mm each) and in October (19 mm), the largest - in June (32 mm) [5]
