Biography

Martha Maria Tulislton-Wykem-Fiennes was born on February 5, 1964 in Suffolk ( England , United Kingdom ) to the family of photographer and illustrator Mark Fiennes (1933-2004) and his first novelist wife and artist Jennifer Lash (1938–1993), who were married for 31 years, from 1962 until the death of Jennifer on December 28, 1993 for breast cancer at 55 years of age. Martha has five brothers and sisters: actor Rafe Fiennes (born 1962), musician Magnus Fiennes (born 1965), director Sophie Fiennes (born 1967), actor Joseph Fiennes (born 1970) and ecologist Jacob Fiennes; she also has a foster brother, an archaeologist Michael Emery, who was raised by her parents, but was never officially adopted by them.

Career

Martha’s career as a filmmaker, screenwriter and film producer lasted 6 years - in 1999–2005. For her directorial debut, Onegin (1999), Fiennes won the Tokyo Film Festival (1999) award and the London Film Critics Circle Award .

Personal Life

Martha is married to director, cameraman and screenwriter George Tiffin. The couple have three children, two sons and a daughter: Titan Nathaniel Tiffin (born August 6, 1995), Hiro Beoregard Fiennes-Tiffin (born June 6, 1997) and Mercy Jeanie Willow Tiffin (born October 15, 2001).
