Arthropod bites
Among arthropod bites, millipede bites , a spider bite , a mosquito bite, and poisonous insects are common.
Vertebrate Bites
A person can become a victim of bites of various vertebrates - sharks, snakes, dogs, cats, bats, rodents, other people and even himself (in pathological conditions). This leads to painful sensations, and often to more serious consequences - bleeding, loss of limbs, infection with diseases, among which rabies is not the least. A snake bite can be extremely dangerous if it is poisonous.
Dog bites are one of the most common, usually children suffer from them, and the dog’s goal is most often the face [1] . In the US , 4.7 million dog bites are reported annually [2] .
Treatment
First aid for a bite - washing the wound with an antiseptic , such as a soap solution, and applying a bandage (not tight).
Antibiotics
In feline, canine, and deep human [3] bites of the hands, the prophylactic use of antibiotics is recommended [4] . There is no consensus among scientists about the usefulness of using antibiotics for bites in other parts of the body [5] .
In empirical treatment, amoxicillin + clavulanic acid is usually used, and in case of penicillin allergy , doxycycline and metronidazole [3] . Anti- staphylococcal penicillins (cloxacillin, nafcillin, fluloxacillin) and macrolides ( erythromycin , clarithromycin ) are not used in empirical therapy, since they do not affect pasteurellas [3] .
