Gerrit was originally a patch kit for Rietveld , but later became a fork and turned into a full-fledged project when a patch kit for ACL implementation was not accepted into the Rietveld project by its author, Guido van Rossum . [one]
Originally created in Python like Rietveld, Gerrit was later rewritten in Java ( Java EE Servlet ) using SQL starting with version 2. Gerrit uses the Google Web Toolkit to generate client-side JavaScript code. [2]
