7th Venice Film Festival

The 7th International Venice Film Festival was held from August 8 to September 1 , 1939 . This festival was “saturated” with the influence of the fascist regime; as a result, the USA refused to participate. The Mussolini Cup was won by the Cardinal Messias colonial propaganda film, while other major prizes were not awarded.
