Vicariate was founded in March 1922, when Patriarch Tikhon and the Provisional Holy Synod under him approved the candidacy of the priest of the church of the village of Veldemanovo, Apollo Kazan, to the post of Bishop of Sergachensky, with the subsequent tonsure as a monk and elevation to the rank of archimandrite [1] .

Vicariate was not titular: it is known that Bishop Peter (Saveliev) lived in Sergach [2] . After 1937, it was stopped.
