Biography
Hassan Berisha graduated from the French gymnasium in Thessaloniki, studied political science and law at the Istanbul Lyceum. He changed his last name to Pristina when he was elected a member of the Turkish Majlis (parliament) in 1908.
In 1911, after the Ottoman government did not keep promises to grant certain rights and freedoms to Albanians, Hassan Pristina and some other Albanian intellectuals created the Albanian national movement. Together with Isa Boletini (with personal dislike for him) and Bayram Curri , Pristina gave impetus to the development of the Albanian national movement in Kosovo. Hasan Pristina is the leader of the Albanian uprising of 1912, which began in his native Vucitrn. During the uprising, Pristina came up with a project to create a bi-ethnic Albanian-Bulgarian state in Northern Macedonia and adjacent areas [3] . This idea was actively supported by the British consul in Skopje . However, in the same 1912 Serbian troops entered Vucitrn, and Hasan Pristina retreated to Albania.
In December 1913, Pristina took the post of Minister of Agriculture in the government of Ismail Kemali . In March 1914 he was appointed Minister of Posts.
During the First World War, Pristina formed volunteer detachments who fought on the side of Austria-Hungary. In 1918, Pristina, together with Bayram Curri, left for Vienna. Then he lived in Rome .
In 1921, Hassan Pristina headed the Albanian government, but because of the contradictions he had with Ahmet Zog , Pristina did not stay long in this post. After that, he continued his activities in parliament. In December 1926, Hassan Pristina was forced to leave Albania.
On June 15, 1931, the wife of Hassan Pristina died suddenly in Vienna. In the same year, Pristina was imprisoned in Belgrade. He was released in early 1933. On April 14, 1933, Hassan Pristina, Vancho Mikhailov and Ante Pavelic developed a project of joint struggle between the VMRO, UHRO and Kosovo Albanians against the dictatorship of Alexander Karageorgievich [4] [5] .
Hassan Pristina was killed in Thessaloniki, in October 1933, by Albanian Ibrahim Chelo.
