Xiahou Yuan ( Chinese 夏侯渊 , Pinyin : xiàhóu yuān ;? - 219 ) - Chinese statesman, military period of Sango . A general and relative of Cao Cao , founder of the Wei Dynasty . Cousin of the commander Xiahou Dong . He participated in campaigns against Liu Bei, Sun Juan and Lu Bu. The posthumous name is Prince Ming.
Biography
Xiahou Yuan came from Qiao County of Pei. He was a cousin of Cao Cao, whose father Cao Song came from the Xiahou family.
In 190, he responded to Cao Cao’s call to destroy dictator Dong Zhuo. Soon became a general. In battles, he always pulled forward, constantly in dangerous places. He was a master of sudden attacks and maneuvers, which led to the saying: "General Xiahou Yuan overcomes five hundred miles in three days, and a thousand miles in six."
In 211, he participated in the Battle of Tong Pass, in which he defeated the troops of Ma Chao and Han Sui. He led the conquest of the Guanzhong plain and the subordination of Liang province. He used the tactics of scorched earth and preventive strikes in the fight against parts of the Han Sui, consisting of Qiang tribes. He was able to lure him into battle in the open and broke up completely. He made the Qiang tribes swear Cao Cao.
Despite courage and belligerence, he was imprudent, which caused Cao Cao's excitement. By negligence, he fell into the enemy’s trap and died on Mount Dinjun at the hands of commander Liu Bei - Huang Zhong . In this regard, Cao Cao lost the Hanzhong area.
