Benoit Furnernon ( fr. Benoît Fourneyron ; October 31, 1802 , Saint-Etienne - July 8, 1867 , Paris ) - French engineer and deputy. Invented a hydraulic motor called the Furnernon turbine and used for the first time at the Daville and Co. factory in Tuval.

In 1848 , after the revolution , he was elected to the constituent assembly, was a member of the right, and was voted out of office in new elections.
In 1848, engineer James Francis, based on the Furnernon turbine, created a radial-axis hydraulic turbine , which is widely used now, for example, at the world's largest Three Gorges hydroelectric station.
