History
In 1929, the districts of Tsike (奇克 县), named after Mount Qike, and Uyun (乌云 县), named after the Uyunhe River, were formed here. In 1932, another county was formed - Xunhe (逊 河 县), named after the Xünbel River.
In 1932, the puppet state of Manzhou-go was created by the Japanese in Manchuria. In December 1934, a change in the administrative-territorial division was made in Manzhou , and these counties became part of the new Heihe province. On July 1, 1943, the Xunhe and Qike counties were merged into the Xunkhe county, whose name came from the first character of the first county and the second character of the second.
At the end of World War II, the government of the Republic of China carried out an administrative-territorial redistribution of the Northeast ; Uyun County and the recreated Xunhe and Qike counties became part of Heilongjiang Province. After the formation of the PRC, the counties of Xunhe, Qike and Uyun were merged into the county of Xunkhe. In 1965, the bulk of the former Uyun County was transferred to Jiayin County.
Heihe City District was formed in 1983, and Xunke County became part of it.
