Biography

Born on February 16, 1906 in the village of Zakubezhie, Moscow Region. From 1926 to 1927 worked in the party organs of the Yaroslavl province. He graduated from the faculty of Soviet law in the city of Leningrad in 1930. In 1939 he was elected chairman of the Leningrad City Bar Association. In the early days of World War II, having reservation armor, he voluntarily joined the people's militia and fought in the ranks of the Soviet Army throughout the war. During the Great Patriotic War, he served in the military prosecutor's office, participated in the defense of the hero city of Leningrad. He has military awards, among them two orders of the Great Patriotic War. In 1946, Ivan Filippovich linked his fate with Leningrad State University. A. Zhdanova, teaches forensics, while continuing to lead the Leningrad City Bar Association. In 1949, he fully transferred to the Department of Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics of Leningrad State University.

Scientific and educational activities

With his tireless work and constant concern for educating new generations of scientific and pedagogical personnel in the field of forensic science, I.F. Krylov created the famous Leningrad school of forensic science, prepared over 50 candidates of legal sciences. Many of them subsequently defended doctoral dissertations, became professors, heads of departments of various universities of the country and neighboring countries, and headed educational and research institutions. Giving a lot of time and energy to his students, I.F. Krylov not only interestingly and fascinatingly gave lectures on forensics, conducted practical classes, but also constantly and intensively engaged in scientific work. I.F. Krylov has published over 100 scientific works, including eight monographs that have received high positive marks from specialists both in our country and abroad. His monographs, such as Traces at the Crime Scene (1961), Forensic Expertise in Criminal Proceedings (1963), Legends and Forensic Science (1987), In the World of Forensic Science, published in two editions, and others brought He is widely recognized and known not only among his fellow specialists, but also in wider readership.

In 1976, under the editorship of I.F. Krylov, forensic scientists from the Department of Criminal Procedure and Criminology of Leningrad State University prepared one of the best textbooks in the Soviet Union, “Forensics” (with the stamp of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the USSR). The authors of the textbook were mainly students of Professor I.F. Krylov. Ivan Filippovich participated as one of the authors in the creation of textbooks on the Soviet criminal process in 1972 and 1989, as well as a textbook of forensic medicine, prepared at the Department of Criminal Procedure of Leningrad State University. Starting from the late 1950s, when he published the book “How Science Helps Solve Crimes,” I. F. Krylov in many of his subsequent books and articles acquainted readers with the latest achievements of science, primarily forensics, which were used in the investigation of crimes and crime prevention.

He was awarded two Orders of the Patriotic War, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, many medals and diplomas.

School of Science

Under the guidance of Professor I.F. Krylov, more than forty of his students defended their dissertation on forensics. Of these, ten people subsequently defended doctoral dissertations and became professors. Among them are such famous scientists as A.I. Bastrykin , V.S. Burdanova, I.A. Vozgrin, N.I. Porubov, T.A. Sedova .
