Life and work

L. Anglada in creative terms - as a writer - belonged to the Catalan cultural movement of Novesentism, which arose in the political environment, formed around the movement created by Enric Prat de la Riba, the Catalan Solidarity (Solidaritat Catalana) . Already at the age of 13, the girl makes drawings for the illustrated comic magazine ¡Cu Cut! . At 17, her work appears for En Patufet magazine. In 1916, L. Anglada makes illustrations for the obituary O. Wilde. In 1918, the girl came to Paris: here she works as an illustrator for a number of French magazines and writes her first book, Contes del Paradís , which she published with her own drawings in 1920. During the Civil War in Spain, L. Anglada was on the side of the Republicans; she participates in the labor movement, joins the UGT and works in the Ministry of Propaganda. After the war, she lived for a long time in seclusion, in the small Catalan town of Tiana, where she died in her family home in September 1984.
