Baranets arctic ( lat. Huperzia arctica ) is a species of the Baranets genus of the Plaunov family.

Botanical description
Plant 2β15 cm high. Shoots are upright. Forms small pads. Filloids linear-lanceolate form. Sporangia are found in the axils of the leaves. Leaves 4-6 mm long, yellowish-brown, transparent, densely located. Triangular spores . Brood buds with a diameter of 1-2 mm. Spores ripen in June - September .
Habitat and habitat
Distributed throughout Siberia and Scandinavia .
Inhabits the arctic and mountain tundra , where it can grow to a height of 1940 m (in Jutunheimene ). Found also in Jan Mayen and Svalbard . Prefers open, wet and lighted mountain soils . Occurs near streams, in swamps , on rocks.
