Biography
German by birth.
He graduated from the cadet corps .
In the rank of Hauptmann (Hauptmann) of the Austro-Hungarian army in 1917 he was captured by Russian [2] .
Member of the Communist Party of Hungary (1918). Among the organizers of the army of the Hungarian Soviet Republic, deputy commander of the corps, officer for assignments under Bela Kun in 1918-1919.
In 1919-1920 he was a political prisoner in Hungary. In 1920-1921 - at illegal work in Germany, where he was arrested and deported to the RSFSR .
In 1921-1922 - Commissioner of the 15th branch (work on the countries of the Great Entente) of the Special Division of the Cheka. In 1922-1923, he was an authorized representative of the transordinate branch of the Foreign Department of the OGPU.
In the years 1923-1925 - adviser in the military apparatus of the Communist Party of Germany, a resident of the INO in Sweden.
In 1925 he was recalled from abroad at the insistence of the head of the Counterintelligence Department (KRO) of the OGPU Arthur Artuzov and was appointed to the KRO as the head of the German department [2] .
In 1925-1929 - Head of the 8th (German) branch of the Counterintelligence Division (KRO) of the OGPU.
In 1929-1930 - Head of the Counterintelligence Department of the OGPU Embassy in the Western Region .
In 1931-1935 - head of the 3rd branch of the Foreign Department of the OGPU.
Together with Arthur Artuzov he moved to the Intelligence Directorate of the Red Army. It is indicated in a series of two or three of the largest figures who then transferred from the OGPU to Razvedupr [3] [4] .
In 1935-1937, he was the head of the 1st (intelligence intelligence in the West) department of the Red Army Reconnaissance.
Arrested on April 21, 1937. Sentenced by the Commission of the NKVD and the Prosecutor of the USSR on August 21 of the same year. Shot on August 21, 1937. On the same day, Arthur Artuzov and Fedor Karin were shot. [5] Rehabilitated September 10, 1957. Burial place: Donskoy.
