The range of the genus covers southeast Asia and Australia. Due to the extensive seasonal and geographical variability, there is a lot of disagreement among the authors about the species belonging to this genus, in particular, this refers to buckthorn. Lamas, for example, includes North American species in this species [1] . Buckthorn papillaria occurs on the territory of Russia , in the Amur region.
