Biography

Born in Baku on November 22, 1922 in a working class family. Member of World War II . He fought as a cadet, radio operator, and then commander of a fire platoon of anti-aircraft artillery batteries. In 1945, after a severe wound, he was demobilized as a disabled person of the second group [1] . In the same year he joined the ranks of the CPSU (b) [2] .

He graduated from the Baku Theater Institute . He taught at the university, worked in editorial offices of magazines.

  • 1967-1971 - chief editor of the newspaper Literature and Art ( Azerb. Ербdəbiyyat və incəsəət ).
  • 1971-1975 - chief editor of the children's magazine “Dove” ( azerb. Göyərçin ).
  • 1975-1991 - Secretary of the Union of Writers of Azerbaijan.

He died in Baku on December 12, 2007 .

Creativity

Published since 1941 as a poet. Prose began to write in the second half of the 1950s [2] . The themes of his works are related both to the war and to the life of contemporaries. His first novel, General, is dedicated twice to Hero of the Soviet Union Azi Aslanov [2] .

The main translator of Abbaszadeh’s works into Russian was science fiction writer Evgeny Voyskunsky .
