Biography
Movita, an American of Mexican descent, was born in Arizona . Over the course of her career, Movita has starred in 38 films and television series. On movie screens, she often played the roles of exotic women and singers, such as Tehani in The Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), Arai in Hurricane (1937) and Guadeloupe in Fort Apache (1948).
In 1939-1944, Movita was married to actor Jack Doyle (1913-1978). In 1960-1962, Castaneda was married to actor Marlon Brando (1924-2004). From Brando, she gave birth to two children - the son of Maiko Castaneda Brando (born 1961) during their marriage and the daughter Rebecca Castaneda Brando (born 1966) during their brief reunion.
After 1958, Movita almost did not act in film. In 1987, she returned to her acting career, appearing in the next two years in 14 episodes of the television series Quiet Quay . Movita Castaneda died in February 2015 at the Los Angeles Rehab at the age of 98, where she suffered a neck injury.
