Sandinista! - The fourth album of the British rock band The Clash , released in 1980 . “Sandinista!” Was released on three records and was even more eclectic than the previous album of the ensemble. In the British charts, he took 19th place and aroused devastating reviews from critics of the time. The album is named for the socialist party that came to power in Nicaragua in 1979 , thus emphasizing the politicism of the lyrics on most of the album's songs.

Overview
“Sandinista!” Was originally planned in reggae and dub styles, and so the band invited Jamaican producer Mike Dred to record. Dread, in turn, invited the group to record with him in a studio in Jamaica . However, then the concept of the album became more vague, and the album was eventually recorded randomly in different studios with different producers, which was reflected in the content: 36 tracks of the album were a mixture of various genres: from the usual rock , rockabilly and reggae to calypso , gospel , bi bop and rap ; some songs were recorded by young children and outside musicians. The 6th side of the album was completely made in the style of dub . The opening song “The Magnificent Seven” is one of the earliest examples of white rap (on the single the song was accompanied by a remix , which was completely new for rock bands of the time). The recordings were helped by musicians from The Blockheads .
As in the case of the double “ London Calling ”, the triple “Sandinista!” At the insistence of the group was sold for the price of one record: all the loss was compensated by the fact that the musicians, at the suggestion of the label, did not receive money from the first 200 thousand copies of the album.
Cover
On the cover of the album is a photograph of the group, taken by Penny Smith in November 1980 under the London Railway Bridge. The musicians were shot that day for the video for the song “The Call Up” and therefore in costumes. A large folded liner with political cartoons was also included in the album.

Impact
The name of the album became the name of the Russian hardcore punk band “Sandinista!”, Founded by Timur Kacharava in 2003. The group stood out with anti-fascist texts, while the leader of the group, being an anti-fascist activist, was killed on November 13, 2005 as a result of an attack by members of a nationalist group .
