Zhigmond (Sigismund) Rakoczy ( Hungarian Rákóczi Zsigmond ; (1544 - December 5, 1608) - the first Transylvanian prince from the Hungarian Calvinist clan Rakoczy (1607-1608), son of Janos Rakoczi.

Biography
He came from a noble Hungarian noble family Rakoczy . In 1605, Zhigmond Rakoczy was appointed governor of Transylvania and began to lead politics on behalf of the Transylvanian prince Stephen (Istvan) Bochkai .
On December 29, 1606, the Transylvanian prince Istvan Bochkai suddenly died (1605-1606). His deputy Zhigmond Rakotsi, Valentin Druget and Gabrielle Bathory began to claim the vacant princely throne. In February 1607, Sigismund Rakoczi at the meeting of the nobility was elected the new prince of Transylvania. The election of Sigismund Rakoczy caused discontent of the Ottoman Empire , in which vassal dependence was Transylvania. In March 1608, Sigismund Rakoczy was ousted from the princely throne by rebel guides who seated Gabriel Batory on the throne.
