Siegerland dialect reveals some lexical similarities with the Hessian and Sauerland dialects . In the north, it is limited from the Westphalian ( Low German ) line of Benrath , in the west it borders with the Ripuar dialects , in the east - with the Rhine-Frankish and Hessian. The use of the dialect is limited to everyday speech.
The dialect is characterized by such phonetic features as voiced [r], pronouncing [b] instead of [p] ( Puppe → Bobbe ) and [x] instead of [g] ( Berg → Berch ), reducing the final en to e ( Schelden → Schelde ; especially in the suffix -chen ). The grammatical feature of the dialect is considered to be the displacement of the genitive by the dative (a frequent occurrence in many dialects), am-progressive verb, non-discrimination of the articles die and den in de and others. The lexical system (insignificantly) varies depending on the locality.
