It is located at the confluence of the Vazuz and Osuga rivers (a tributary of the Vazuz ) , on the shore of the Vazuz reservoir. The distance to the district center of teeth on the road - 23 kilometers.

History
In the Middle Ages on the site of the village was located the ancient Russian town of Fominsk town , the center of the specific Fominsky principality , which was part of the Smolensk land .
The first mention of the town of Fominsk belongs to the written sources of 1371 . After the XV century, information about the city (fortress, town) is not. In place of the city - on the settlement - there was a village Fomin-Gorodishche.
According to the data of [1] of 1859, the state-owned village of Fominskaya Settlement, Zubtsovsky District , 8 versts from Zubtsov, 38 yards, 269 inhabitants, there is an Orthodox church. In the second half of the 19th - early 20th century, the village of Fomino-Gorodishche was the center of the parish and belongs to the Shchekoldinsky volost in the Zubtsovsky district of the Tver province . In 1888, there were 34 courtyards in the village, 201 residents, the soil around was bad, the land did not feed. The peasants are engaged in fishing, go flax flax in Rzhev . During World War II, the village was at the epicenter of fierce battles during the first Rzhev-Sychev operation in August 1942. In November-December 1942, close to Fomin, the Settlements turned into fierce battles of the second Rzhev-Sychevskoy operation . After the war, the Rassvet collective farm was formed on the basis of the village. After the construction of the dam of the Vazuzsky reservoir in 1977, the old cemetery was flooded and the short, straight road to Zubtsov was cut off.
