The “ Wandering Cathedral ” is a historical hoax [1] [2] [3] , first set forth by the activist of non-canonical Orthodoxy, Ambrosius (Sievers) , according to which in 1928, under the conditions of persecution by the Soviet regime , a secret cathedral of the catacomb church was held .

Acts of the “Council” (according to Ambrose Sievers)
The cathedral was held from March 9 to August 8 in 4 stages. The venue of the cathedral was safe houses in the cities of Syzran , Yelets , Vyshny Volochok . The direct organizers of the Cathedral were Danilov’s leaders , led by Archbishop Theodore and Bishop Mark (Novosyolov) (there is no reliable information about the tonsure of the monasticism and consecration of Mikhail Novosyolov as bishop), as well as the Andreevites [4] , who initially did not recognize the current Metropolitan authority. In total, the Cathedral was attended by no more than 70 delegates from various Orthodox communities in Russia, chaired by Bishop Mark.
The cathedral worked out 29 canons. The main decision of the Nomad Cathedral was the condemnation of the " heresy of the Sergians " (1, 2 and 6 canons). Another important result of the Council was the rehabilitation of the Old Believers and the condemnation of the Cathedral of 1666 as a robber (12 canon). The Royal Family was counted among the holy martyrs (15 canon). The church order was simplified, the possibility of worship without priests was allowed (22 canon). The “real shock” was caused by documents at the Council, according to which Serafim Sarovsky was declared an Old Believer, and his official life was falsified [5] .
In the acts of the Council there were clan items [3] .
Recognition and evaluation
Doubts about the reality of the “Nomad Cathedral” are caused by the fact that the only source of information about it is the activist of non-canonical Orthodoxy Amvrosiy (Sievers) with a dubious reputation. On the other hand, some researchers (B. Kutuzov, I. Yablokov [6] ) doubt that the Wandering Cathedral is exclusively an invention of Ambrose, and recognize its authenticity.
The truth of the Council is rejected by the Russian Orthodox Church, but is recognized by the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church to be canonical [7] and, according to some statements, the Old Believers of the Belokrinitsky consent [8] .
