Club career

Andre Abegglen played in Xamax from Neuchâtel, Servette from Geneva, Chaux-de-Fonds from Geneva, and Sochaux. As part of the "Sochaux" twice became the champion of France, and in 1935 - the best scorer of the championship.

International Career

The first match for the national team was played on November 6, 1927.

At the 1934 World Cup , Andre scored his only goal in the 1/8 finals, but Switzerland dropped out of the tournament in the quarter finals. At the 1938 World Championships in France, Abegglen showed his strength in the match against Germany, defeating the Germans almost on his own: in the 1/8 finals, at the Paris stadium “ Park de Prens ”, Andre Abegglen from Sochaux scored 3 goals out of 5- tee. First, he scored the last goal in the main match against Germany 1: 1, and then in the second match Andre scored the third and fourth goal, setting the final score 4: 2 in favor of Switzerland.

Personal life

Two brothers Andre Abegglena - Max and Jean - also played for the Swiss national team.

Killed at the age of 35 in a train accident.
