History
On June 30, 1911, the Holy See established the Apostolic Prefecture of Congolo, separating it from the Apostolic Vicariate of Leopoldville (now the Archbishopric of Kinshasa ).
On June 18, 1935, the Apostolic Prefecture of Congolo was transformed into the Apostolic Vicariate .
On November 10, 1959, the Apostolic Vicariate of Congolo was transformed into a diocese by the bull Cum parvulum of Pope John XXIII .
