Since January 2003, Guo Yue is one of the ten best players in the world, in January 2008, for the only time in his career, he reached the first place in the ranking of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) [3] .

Guo Yue is sponsored by Stiga and uses the firm's Ebenholz NCT V base as well as the Calibra LT pad on the backhand side of the racket [4] .

Biography

Guo Yue started playing table tennis at the age of 6, her father gave her the first lessons. At the age of seven, she began to play table tennis in the school section, then she trained at a sports school in Shenyang . In 1998, she became a member of the professional team of Liaoning Province. Two years later, she became part of the second national team. In 2002, Guo Yue became the youngest player in the main team of China [5] .

Guo Yue achieved success early in the international arena. Having won the Austrian Open tournament in 2002 with the 15-year-old Fan Ying tournament “Austrian Open”, she became the youngest holder of the ITTF Pro Tour title, her age was 13 years and 194 days [2] . She won the first individual title of the Pro Tour at the age of 14 in Kobe at the Japan Open tournament in 2003 [6] . At the age of 15, she won team gold at the World Championships in Doha in 2004 as part of the Chinese national team [7] . At the age of 16, at the Athens Olympics in 2004, she, along with Niu Jianfeng, became the doubles bronze Olympic medalist [5] .

After several defeats at international tournaments - one of the most painful was the defeat of Hong Kong tennis player Tie Yana at the 2006 World Team Championships - the team's coaches decided to take a break from Guo Yue's participation in the competition, which lasted about six months. The return of Guo Yue took place at the Asian Games in Doha in December 2006, and this return was a triumph - Guo Yue won three gold medals: singles, doubles and teams. The following 2007, Guo Yue won four individual Pro Tour titles and became the world champion in the individual standings and mixed doubles [5] .

In January 2008, Guo Yue first occupied the top line in the world ranking. At the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008, Guo Yue became the Olympic champion in the team event and the bronze medalist in the individual.

In 2010, Guo Yue remained at the world championships as a reserve, including at the memorable team world championship in Moscow, where the Chinese women's team lost in the finals of the Singapore national team.

In 2011, Guo Yue participated in many competitions, including the World Cup, Asian Championship, National Championship, 9 tournaments and the Grand Final of the World Tour, 15 national competitions, and never won an individual title. On the other hand, Guo Yue in 2011, performing in doubles with various players ( Li Xiaosia , Liu Shiwen , Guo Yan , Li Xiaodang ), did not lose a single competition in which she participated, including the World Cup and Grand Final World tour.

The unique qualities of Guo Yue as a double player, her previous Olympic experience, as well as a brilliant game in the tournaments of the beginning of 2012 predetermined the decision of the national team coaches to include Guo Yue in the PRC women's team at the 2012 Olympic Games [8] . Guo Yue became the two-time Olympic champion in the team category at the London Olympics, playing for the PRC team with Ding Ning and Li Xiaosia.

Before the London Olympics in June 2012, Guo Yue, along with other members of the Chinese team, Ding Ning and Li Xiaosia, joined the Communist Party of China [9] .
