History
On December 18, 1911, the Holy See established the Apostolic Prefecture of Niangara, separating it from the Apostolic Vicariate of Buta (now the Diocese of Buta ).
On May 6, 1924, the apostolic prefecture of Niangara was transformed into an apostolic vicar .
On November 10, 1959, the Apostolic Vicariate of Niangara was transformed into a diocese by the bull Cum parvulum of Pope John XXIII .
