Place of residence (also domicile , lat. Domicilium ) - a place where a person ( citizen ) resides permanently or predominantly.
He can occupy the premises in which he lives as an owner , under a lease (sub-lease) agreement , a lease agreement or on other grounds provided for by law - a hotel, a residential building, an apartment, an office premises, specialized houses (a hostel, a hotel-shelter) , a maneuvering fund house, a special house for single and elderly people, a boarding house for the disabled, veterans, etc.), as well as other living quarters.
The term place of declared place of permanent residence is also used.

Legislation
In order to ensure the necessary conditions for citizens to exercise their rights and freedoms, as well as to fulfill their obligations to other citizens, the state and society, registration of citizens at their place of residence is carried out (in Russia, see Registration in the Russian Federation ). Permanent or temporary change of place of residence must be carried out in accordance with the Rules for the registration and removal of citizens of the Russian Federation from registration at the place of stay and at the place of residence within the Russian Federation.
CIVIL CODE OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION
Part oneSection 20. Place of Residence of a Citizen
1. The place of residence is the place where a citizen permanently or predominantly resides.2. The place of residence of minors under fourteen years of age or citizens under guardianship shall be recognized as the place of residence of their legal representatives - parents, adoptive parents or guardians.
The place of residence of minors under 14 years of age or citizens under guardianship shall be recognized as the place of residence of their legal representatives - parents, adoptive parents or guardians (see article 20 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation ).
In Ukraine, urgent registration of the place of residence and stay of individuals was introduced in May 2012 [1] . The same is done by Estonian citizens [2]

Upon arrival at a new place of residence in some countries, the declaration of residence is required (see Residence Permit ).
