History
On February 26, 1934, Pope Pius XI issued the bull Maiori catholicae , which established the Boma Apostolic Vicariate, separating it from the Apostolic Vicariate of South Leopoldville (today - the Kinshasa Archdiocese ) and the Apostolic Prefecture of the Apostolic Prefecture of Luluama Central Africa (today.
On November 10, 1959, the Apostolic Vicariate of Boma was transformed into the diocese by the bull Cum parvulum of Pope John XXIII .
