Euthyroidism ( other Greek. Εὐ good + lat. (Glandula) thyreoidea thyroid gland + -ōsis] - normal functioning of the thyroid gland, lack of symptoms of hypo- and hyperthyroidism . The word comes from the ancient Greek language and literally means “good thyroid function”. You can talk about normal thyroid function when thyroid-stimulating hormone of the pituitary gland ( thyrotropin , TSH or TSH ( English thyroid stimulation hormone ) in foreign literature) and thyroid hormones (thyroid hormones) are in the blood at a normal level.
This term is not synonymous with “healthy thyroid gland”. Most often it is used in connection with goiter - euthyroid goiter (enlargement of the thyroid gland with normal thyroid function). This condition is usually associated with iodine deficiency.
