Description
Designed in the late 1960s - early 1970s. It was created on the basis of the Type 73 armored personnel carrier , developed in the same years. The chassis was manufactured by Komatsu, the armament was supplied by Japan Steel Works. The first prototypes began to pass tests in 1969-1970, were put into service in 1974. Containers with 30 shells are specially installed for the 105-mm howitzer, the machine itself can overcome water obstacles by installing special screens. There are filters such as NBC. According to 2001 data received by the UN Committee on Disarmament, 20 such howitzers were in service with Japan. According to 2008 data, 17 vehicles were at the disposal of the 2nd artillery regiment in Asagikawa (Hokkaido).
