As prince of the house of Baden, from 1842 to 1852, Ludwig was a member of the First Chamber of the Baden Permanent Assembly . Nevertheless, he personally participated in meetings only from 1842 and 1846. He carried the title of Grand Duke of Baden from April 24, 1852, but was considered insane [3] and thus incapable of administering the government. Therefore, he provided official duties to his brother Frederick, who in 1856 also assumed the title of Grand Duke of Baden.
