“Valmiera” ( Latvian Valmieras Futbola klubs ) is a Latvian football club from the city of the same name .

Content

History

After the refusal of the Gauja football club in 1994 to play in the First League of Latvia , a football team was assembled in Valmiera , which began to play under the name of the city in the First League instead of Gauja.

On February 29, 1996, the Valmiera Football Club society was founded ( Latvian. Biedrība „Valmieras Futbola klubs” ) ^[1] , which took over the management of the club. In the same year, “Valmiera” won 2nd place in the First League and in the transitional matches beat Riga “ Skonto / Metals ”, earning a ticket to the Major League .
