Biography
Sheyba ibn Hashim was born in Medina in 497. He was the son of Hashim ibn Abd Manaf (the ancestor of the Hashimites ). After the death of Hashim ibn Abd Manaf, the responsibility for organizing the hajj passed to his brother Muttalib ibn Abd Manaf . When Muttalib ibn Abd Manaf arrived in Medina, he took Sheyba with him to Mecca. In Mecca, it was thought that Sheyba was a slave of Muttalib, so they began to call him Abd al-Muttalib ( Arabic. عبد المطلب - slave of Muttalib ). After the death of Muttalib, Abd al-Muttalib assumed responsibility for organizing the Hajj and gained great respect among the people [3] .
After the death of the mother of the prophet Muhammad Amina bint Wahb , Abd al-Muttalib took custody of the six-year-old grandson of Mohammed, but two years later he died and his son Abu Talib took custody [3] .
